  • Date
    28 Oct 2022, 14:46pm

Each year, 18 December is observed as International Migrants Day. This occasion aims to draw attention to the human rights of migrants and highlight their contribution to our societies.

To mark this year’s International Migrants Day, IOM Viet Nam would like to invite you to participate in a “Migration Through My Lens” Contest to raise public awareness on internal and international migration in Viet Nam. IOM Viet Nam seeks to highlight personal narratives and experiences on migration to promote diversity and inclusion in the Vietnamese migrant’s society.

The contest theme is Migration through my lens. Submit a Facebook post describing what migration means to you in one word and use video(s) / photo(s) with captions to explain your ideas.

We would like to voice all points of view on migration in Viet Nam context. This can be your own migration journey or observation of individuals, their families, or the communities who move away from their place of usual residence, whether within Viet Nam or across an international border, temporarily or permanently, for a variety of reasons.

Follow the steps below to apply for the contest:

  1. Take your own photos or video. Be creative!
  2. Post it on your Facebook account and add hashtag #IMD2022  #IOMVietNamcontest #Migrationthroughmylens
  3. Tag IOM Viet Nam Facebook page (@iom.vietnam) in the post.
  4. Fill out the submission form (including consent form) on IOM Viet Nam website to submit your application.

The Facebook caption must include one word of your liking that describes migration. You can include a 1-minute video, or maximum of 5 photos in the post. Descriptions of photos/videos, no more than 60 words per item reflecting the contest’s theme, should be sent together with the original files in the submission form. The post can be in either English or Vietnamese.

The contest is open to everyone of Vietnamese descent currently residing in Viet Nam or abroad.

Registration is free and open until 23:59 (UTC+7), 30 November 2022. Only one submission per person is allowed.

At the end of the registration period, all submissions will be evaluated by a panel of experts to select the winning entries.

The contest winners will be notified via email and the contest results will be announced publicly on IOM Viet Nam’s Facebook page.
