Community outreach events in Dien Trung, Dien Thinh, Dien Thanh
Nghe An on 19th- 21st April 2016
Between the 19th and 21st April, IOM Viet Nam, in cooperation with the Provincial Border Guard, organized three community outreach events in Dien Trung, Diễn and Dien Thanh communes, Dien Chau District of Nghe An province to deliver the information and policies against irregular migration from Vietnam to Australia by boat. This included information on how to avoid being cheated or involved in irregular migration activities.
IOM Vietnam and the Provincial Border Guard also visited a local high school as part of the communication campaign. Around 500 students attended this presentation. The students demonstrated their understanding of Australia's migration policies as well as options for safe and legal migration by participating in a quiz at the end of the event.
Thanks to interesting performances prepared by local artists, residents and students learnt about Australia's strict immigration policies on irregular migration from Vietnam to Australia by boat as well as how to migrate safely and legally.
