Policy dialogue in Nghe An about safe migration, prevention of human trafficking and irregular migration

Nghe An, August 19th 2016

On August 19th 2016, in Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province, IOM Viet Nam in collaboration with the Women's Union of Nghe An and Quynh Luu district organized one policy dialogue for nearly 300 local residents about safe migration, prevention of human trafficking and irregular migration.

Representatives from the Legal Aid Centre, Bureau of Labour and Employment, District Police, Bank for Social Policies, Women's Union at different levels and IOM joined the chairing committee to answer the questions and concerns raised by the participants. The participants there have many questions answered about labour policies, procedures for working abroad, the situation of irregular migration, procedures for the application and clearance of loans supporting to work abroad, legal procedures for marrying foreigners, support for victims of trafficking and the risks during and after the labour migration process, measures for self-protection against human trafficking during the labour migration process. The Migrant Resource Centre MRC Nghe AN was introduced to local residents who were encouraged to get access to these official and reliable resources of information.

This is the third policy dialogue under an IOM project funded by the Department of Population, Refugees and Migrants of the US Department of States until September 2016 in Nghe An.
