The workshop with private sector on safe migration and ethical recruitment
Nghe An, August 18th 2016
On August 18, the workshop with private sector on safe migration and ethical recruitment was successfully organzied between IOM Vietnam and Women's Union of Nghe An, Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of Nghe An and People’s Committee of Quynh Luu Districts.
60 participants are representatives of several departments and 15 local recruitment companies from Hanoi and Bac Ninh, representatives of some departments and companies from Tay Ninh and Dong Nai provinces.
The recruitment agencies shared their practices and expectation of transparency and the responsibilities of relevant stakeholders during recruitment process and the benefits of direct recruitment. The enterprises using labour migrants shared their concern and practices of privileged welfare policies applied for their recruited labour migrants recruited.
IOM and the participants held discussions on risks of exploitation for labour migrants, consequences of unethical recruitment, key challenges and measures to promote safe migration, ethical recruitment and protecting the rights of migrant workers.
This is an activity under an IOM project funded by the Department of Population, Refugees and Migrants of the US Department of States until September 2016 in Nghe An.
