Promoting development-friendly migration policies in Viet Nam through enhancing the evidence base for policy
Duration: 1st October 2013 - 30th September 2016
Location: Vietnam
Donor/Funding source: IOM Development Fund
Implementing partner: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam
Objectives/Brief description of project: The project aims to promote development-friendly and coherent migration policy development in Viet Nam and focuses on strengthening coordination and information-sharing among responsible government agencies.
In the past years, migration profiles (MP) have emerged as a practical tool in promoting a process addressing the need for a more systematic, structurally coordinated and coherent approach to migration and development policy and programming.
The proposed project adopts this inclusive approach towards developing a country report on migration by setting up appropriate intra-governmental consultation mechanisms on data collection, and by drafting the report.
A number of workshops on emerging migration policy issues will be conducted to sensitize policy makers to future challenges and strengthen strategic and coherent policy planning on migration within the government.
