Resolution on Migrants’ Health
Duration: May 2010-May 2013
Location: Vietnam
Partners: Ministry of Health
Mobility and health are related to the structure and conditions of the migration process due to such social determinants as poverty, exploitation, separation from families and partners, and separation from socio-cultural norms. Reaching migrants with treatment and care is essential as migrants and mobile populations are often neglected or stigmatized against by health-care services and the lack of knowledge, program support, and services, leads to greater risk behaviour.
IOM proposes this project to support the Ministry of Health to initiate activities related to migrants and health. The purposes of the project are the following:
- To strengthen the capacity of the Ministry of Health in recognising the importance of achieving the objectives and strategies of the Health of Migrants Resolution
- To include migrants and mobile populations into the national health programmes and policies.
