Effective National Reintegration Model – Continuation on Ongoing Activities
Duration: 2 years
Location: Throughout Vietnam (with continuing demonstration models in An Giang, Bac Giang, and Lao Cai provinces)
Partners: Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA)
In 2008, there have been three projects in Lao Cai, Bac Giang and An Giang provinces which support provincial counter-trafficking efforts and the development of assessment centers, both to provide direct support to trafficked women and to provide MOLISA evidence of effective practices. These projects’ activities have determined that the assessment centers are starting to make an impact of the lives of returning women, but that continued support is needed to build their capacity, especially emphasizing non-judgmental, safe environments and the management of critical activities such as counseling, health care, psychosocial support, and employment opportunities
The project’s three objectives are as follows:
- To develop a practical comprehensive reintegration model which can be applied for national replication
- To identify a partnership model with MOLISA, and enhance its coordination role, for future experience sharing and collaboration
- To support the development of policy and legislation, particularly a new phase of the National Plan of Action on trafficking
